Nikon Announces Another Mini Camera, the Coolpix S02

Today Nikon announces the extremely tiny Coolpix S02, the newest version of the ultra compact S01 that was unveiled about a year ago.

The new Coolpix S02 has a few updates to its predecessor. The camera now offers a 13.2-megapixel CMOS sensor instead of the CCD sensor offered with the S01. The camera also has a 2.7-inch LCD screen packed onto the back of the S02. The S02 has the same 3x zoom Nikkor lens as the S01.

The S02 includes a new customizable home screen. Scene Auto Selector Mode automatically chooses the best mode based on the shooting situation (portrait, landscape, night portrait, night landscape, close-up and backlighting). The S02 also includes a hand-held night scene mode and special effects including Mirror, Sepia, High Contrast Monochrome, High Key and Low Key.

The Nikon S02 will be available in September 2013 for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $179.95 in a variety of colors including silver, white, pink and blue.
